Sessions

1. Its Threefold Potential

This session discusses the significance of prayer in the context of world evangelization, Christian unity, and personal growth. It begins by highlighting the three key elements of the book of Acts: Jesus going up, the Holy Spirit coming down, and the Church going out. Before these events, the early Church was born, and Jesus emphasized the importance of prayer before embarking on their mission. This session focuses on three essential relationships tied to prayer: its capacity to change the world through evangelization, its role in fostering Christian unity, and its transformative effect on individuals’ personal growth. It underscores the necessity of prayer for fulfilling the Great Commission, creating unity within the Church, and developing a deeper relationship with Jesus.

3. The Practice of Prayer (Part 1)

This session emphasizes the significance of prayer in enabling God’s work in our lives and the need for the anointing of the Holy Spirit, which comes through prayer. The session aims to explore three major areas concerning prayer: the priority, plan, and place of prayer. In the priority of prayer, the session urges making prayer a central aspect of daily life, contributing to spiritual growth, strength, and consistency. The plan or program of prayer is discussed, emphasizing the value of meaningful prayer experiences with organized, systematic approaches. The psalmist’s example of setting prayer in order each day is highlighted, stressing the need for a strategic prayer plan. Throughout the lesson, the importance of prayer as the foundation for all spiritual endeavors is emphasized.

4. The Practice of Prayer (Part 2)

This session emphasizes the importance of a complete and systematic approach to prayer. It encourages incorporating various aspects of prayer, including praise, waiting, confession, scripture praying, watching, intercession, petition, thanksgiving, singing, meditation, listening, and rejoicing, to develop a meaningful and effective daily prayer time. By dedicating a few minutes to each aspect, one can easily spend an hour or more in prayer. However, it reminds readers to avoid making prayer a mere ritual and to remain open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance in their prayer times.

5. The Purpose of Prayer

This session focuses on the ultimate purpose of prayer, which is to help gather in the harvest of lost souls. It emphasizes that nothing is closer to the heart of God than the salvation of mankind and how prayer plays a significant role in the great harvest of souls happening all over the world. This session explores four insights related to this purpose, including a prayer concerning the end-time harvest, a promise regarding the preaching of the Gospel in all the world, a premise that the world is not evangelized, people are, and a proclamation about the multitude of nations making a proclamation in Revelation 7:12. The text highlights the importance of praying and actively participating in spreading the Gospel to fulfill God’s purpose of gathering lost souls into His Kingdom.
